Prayer Flags
Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. Tibetans believe that prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Sets of five colored flags represent the Five Buddha Families and five elements and are put in the order of blue, white, red, green, yellow from left to right. Our large prayer flags are 88 inches long, with individual flags measuring 15 inches long by 10 inches wide. Our medium prayer flags are 88 inches long, with individual flags measuring 11 inches long by 8 inches wide. Our small prayer flags are 79 inches long, with individual flags measuring 8 1/2 inches long and 6 1/2 inches wide.
The mini mani cloth flags are colorful and depict the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum," the mantra of Chenrezi, the Buddha of compassion. Each string of flags has 2 sets of the mantra. Each individual flag is 3 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches with one syllable of a mantra. The entire string of 10 flags is 54 inches long and is extremely colorful and attractive.
