Video of Geshema Exams for Tibetan Buddhist Nuns

We are happy to share this 1-minute video showing snapshots of this year’s Geshema exams that were held at Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institute near Dharamsala from May 1st to 15th, 2014.

In the past, the Geshe degree, equivalent to a PhD in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, was open only to monks.

Geshes, and soon also Geshemas, are the most educated monastics, carrying much of the responsibility for preserving the Tibetan religion and culture.

The Geshema degree will enable the nuns to take up important leadership roles as educators for future generations of Buddhist practitioners.

If you are interested in learning more about the work of the Tibetan Nuns Project please visit our website at https://tnp.org.

This year we are seeking 200 more sponsors for nuns because inflation in India is putting great pressure on all the nunneries. We would be grateful for your help in sponsoring a Tibetan Buddhist nun.
